NHTSA campaign 24V901000 · Part 573 safety recall report

McLaren Automotive Incorporated: Structure › Body

McLaren Automotive Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 28, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 163. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

McLaren Automotive Incorporated (McClaren) is recalling certain 2021 765LT Coupe vehicles. The rear cabin window may have insufficient adhesive bonding, which can allow the window to detach from the support frame.

The risk

A rear window that detaches from the vehicle can create a road hazard for other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will install bespoke fasteners into each corner of the polycarbonate panel, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed on December 4, 2024. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, anticipated late September 2025. Owners may contact McClaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916. McClaren's number for this recall is 2024/002.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V901000.
