NHTSA campaign 24V893000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Volvo Bus Corporation: Equipment › Other › Labels

Volvo Bus Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 26, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 5. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Volvo Bus Corporation (Volvo Bus) is recalling certain 2025 Volvo 9700 buses. The emergency exit labels that provide exit identification and operating instructions may not be secured properly, allowing the labels to detach. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

The risk

Missing emergency exit labels can prevent or delay the use of the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Prevost will replace the emergency exit labels, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 19, 2024. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Volvo Bus' number for this recall is SR24-86.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V893000.
