Nikola Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 7, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 72. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tre BEV vehicles. A resistor may degrade, causing the instrument panel to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."
The risk
An instrument panel that fails to display critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the instrument panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 4, 2024. Owners may contact Nikola customer service at 1-888-268-1181. Nikola's number for this recall is 24VDC0903.
