NHTSA campaign 24V360000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Diamond Coach Corporation: Seats

Diamond Coach Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on May 22, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 10. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Diamond Coach Corporation (Diamond Coach) is recalling certain 2023-2024 VIP 2200 transit buses, equipped with certain GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats. The recliner mechanism may not engage when the seat back is fully reclined. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

The risk

The seat back could release when force is applied to the shoulder belt, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The remedy

Diamond Coach will work with the equipment manufacturer, Freedman, to inspect and repair the seats as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 13, 2024. Owners may contact Diamond Coach at 1-800-442-4645.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V360000.
