NHTSA campaign 24V172000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Winnebago Industries, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Winnebago Industries, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 1, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 19. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2023 - 2024 Sunstar motorhomes. The tire information label incorrectly states the tire size and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

The risk

Incorrect tire information could result in tires that do not meet GVWR specifications being installed, affecting vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Winnebago will mail owners a corrected certification label, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed May 1, 2024. Once the final remedy is available a second notice will be mailed. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V172000.
