Mack Trucks, Inc.: Vehicle Speed Control
Mack Trucks, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 22, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 650. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2023-2024 GR, AN, LR, and Terrapro vehicles. The engine may not return to idle within 2 seconds if the accelerator pedal position sensor becomes disconnected. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."
The risk
An engine that does not return to idle quickly enough can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Mack will replace the throttle pedal and update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed February 27, 2024. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0455.
