NHTSA campaign 23V570000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Maserati North America, Inc.: Structure › Critical Fasteners

Maserati North America, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 10, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 59. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2023 MC20 Cielo vehicles. The windshield frame stud sealant, which retains the stud connecting the windshield frame to the body, may not have been installed, which can reduce body structure performance and roof strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 216, "Roof Crush Resistance" and 214, "Side Impact Protection."

The risk

A body structure that does not perform as intended and a roof with insufficient strength may not adequately protect occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect the windshield frame mounting stud and install sealant, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 24, 2023. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 662.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V570000.
