Vanguard National Trailer Corporation: Tires › Pressure Monitoring and Regulating Systems

The defect

Vanguard National Trailer Corporation (Vanguard) is recalling all 2023-2024 trailer models built after November 2022 and equipped with a SAF Holland Tire Pilot Plus (TPP) tire inflation system. The TPP electronic controller may open the check valves, causing the tires to deflate.

The risk

A loss of tire pressure while driving can lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Vanguard will work with equipment manufacturer to replace and reactivate the Tire Pilot Plus system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 8, 2024. Owners may contact Vanguard customer service at 1-888-253-3008.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V497000.
