Volvo Trucks North America: Electrical System › Wiring › Relays/Solenoids

Volvo Trucks North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 4, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 243. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2019-2023 VNR Electric vehicles. The power cables that connect to the windscreen heater relay may have a loose connection and cause the relay to fail.

The risk

A relay that fails in the closed position will continue to power the cabin heater, overheating the relay and increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Dealers will tighten the power cable to relay connections, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 4, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2306.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V401000.
