Polaris Inc.: Electrical System › Alternator/Generator/Regulator

Polaris Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 20, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 163. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Polaris Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot S with Technology Package 1, Slingshot SL, Slingshot SLR, and Slingshot S motorcycles. The alternator may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing.

The risk

An improperly heat-treated alternator may crack and separate during operation, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the alternator, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 8, 2023. Owners may contact Polaris' customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-23-01.
