NHTSA campaign 23V017000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Isuzu Motors Limited: Electrical System › Adas › Driver Monitoring › Camera/Sensor

Isuzu Motors Limited reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 23, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 242. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Isuzu Motors Limited (Isuzu) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Isuzu NQR, NRR, 2022 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward (LCF) 5500HD, 2022-2023 Chevrolet LCF 5500XD, and 2023 Hino S52 vehicles. When the vehicles were modified to extend the frame to a 200-inch or 212-inch wheelbase, the ABS module and if equipped, optional ADAS Camera, were not recalibrated to account for the stretched frame.

The risk

An improperly calibrated ADAS camera and ABS module can result in the Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB) and Electronic Steering Control System (ESC) not functioning properly, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will recalibrate the ADAS camera and ABS module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 17, 2023. Owners may contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638. Isuzu's number for this recall is V2301.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V017000.
