NHTSA campaign 22V758000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Wabash National Corporation: Structure › Body › Hatchback/Liftgate

Wabash National Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 10, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 740. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2020-2023 RFALHSA trailers. The lift gate obscures the rear conspicuity tape placed at deck height. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The risk

Obscured conspicuity tape may reduce visibility of the rear of the trailer for nearby drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Wabash will supply conspicuity tape, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 4, 2022. Owners may contact Wabash's customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V758000.
