NHTSA campaign 22V663000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Jayco, Inc.: Suspension › Front › Springs › Torsion Bar

Jayco, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 1, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 245. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Entegra Qwest, Jayco Melbourne, and Melbourne Prestige motorhomes. The shim on the torsion bar was incorrectly installed between the nut and the torsion bar, rather than between the ball stud and the torsion bar.

The risk

An incorrectly assembled torsion bar may fail at the connection between the torsion bar and linkage, resulting in a loss of vehicle stability, and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the torsion bar linkage and correct the position of the shim, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 29, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is MB 22V-131.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V663000.
