NHTSA campaign 22V175000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Arcimoto Inc: Service Brakes

Arcimoto Inc reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 23, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 541. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Arcimoto Inc (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Deliverator, 2019-2022 FUV, 2021-2022 Rapid Responder, and 2020-2022 Roadster motorcycles. The brake pressure switch may corrode after exposure to salt and chemicals found in de-icers, causing the brake lights to illuminate constantly.

The risk

Brake lights that remain illuminated can cause confusion to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to contact Arcimoto to schedule a service appointment to have the brake pressure switch inspected and dielectric grease added to the connection to prevent the brake lights from remaining on. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 27, 2022. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V175000.
