NHTSA campaign 21V475000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 25, 2021 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 5. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021 East to West Entrada Class C Motorhomes. The federal placard incorrectly states that there are six seats equipped with seat belts when there are actually only four. As such, these motorhomes fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, " Tire selection and rims and motor home/recreation vehicle trailer load carrying capacity information for motor vehicles with a GVWR of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds)."

The risk

Vehicle occupants may be unaware of the accurate number of seat belts, resulting in unsecured passengers and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will provide a new federal placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 25, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-264-6664. Forest River's number for this recall is 504-1374.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 21V475000.
