Daimler Coaches North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 23, 2021 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 530. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Daimler Coaches North America (Daimler Coaches) is recalling certain 2009-2020 Setra S417 and 2012-2019 Setra S407 vehicles. The hinge on the engine compartment flap may crack, which could result in the flap detaching from the vehicle.
The risk
A detached engine compartment flap can become a road hazard, and increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will attach a restraining tether to the engine compartment flap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 13, 2021. Owners may contact Daimler Coaches' customer service at 1-416-624-3558. Daimler Coaches' number for this recall is TI#: 75.00U21166A. This recall supersedes previous recall number 20V394.
