PACCAR Incorporated: Power Train
PACCAR Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 13, 2021 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 53. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022 Kenworth T440, T470, T800, and W900 vehicles. The starter interrupt may allow the vehicle to start when the transmission is not in PARK. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect."
The risk
Starting the vehicle when the transmission is not in PARK may cause unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Paccar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and reconnect the transmission and chassis harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 26, 2021. Owners may contact PACCAR customer service at 1-425-828-5888. PACCAR's number for this recall is 21KWB.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 21V262000.
