Navistar, Inc.: Exterior Lighting
Navistar, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 24, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 14. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2021 International MV and HV vehicles equipped with feature code 10EWW, 10EYD, 10HYR, or 10JPJ (Fifth wheel, stationary), 10HJA (Fifth wheel, air slide) or 10WDN (Fifth wheel mounting angles). The vehicles may not have had sections of reflective tape applied to the right and left upper contours of the cab. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamp, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Without the reflective strips, a truck operating without a trailer at night may be less visible, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will install reflective tape to the back of the cab, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2020. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 20508.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V584000.
