NHTSA campaign 20V551000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Wabash National Corporation: Equipment

Wabash National Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 10, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 218. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Van trailers manufactured with flat bottom floors that are equipped with aerodynamic skirts. The aerodynamic skirts attached to the van trailers may come loose.

The risk

If the aerodynamic skirt detaches while the trailer is moving it may increase the risk of a crash or injury.

The remedy

Wabash has notified owners, and dealers will rework the safety tether assembly to keep the skirt attached, free of charge. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Wabash's customer service at 765-771-5404. Wabash's number for this recall is B20012.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V551000.
