NHTSA campaign 20V546000 · Part 573 safety recall report

E-One Incorporated: Suspension › Rear › Springs › Leaf Spring Assembly › U-bolt, Leaf Spring to Axle

E-One Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 9, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 15. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Cyclone 2 and Typhoon ambulances. The lower shock mount bracket may cause the U-bolts to bind and break, possibly preventing the rear axle from remaining secured.

The risk

The unsecured rear axle may shift sideways, resulting in loss of control of the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of crash.

The remedy

E-One has notified owners, and dealers replace any of the affected lower shock mount brackets, free of charge. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact E-One customer service at 1-888-237-1751.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V546000.
