NHTSA campaign 20V532000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc.: Equipment › Appliance › Refrigerator

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 2, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 90. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. (Gulf Stream) is recalling certain 2021 Enlighten 25BH travel trailers. The lower front trim strip may be missing from the refrigerator. The front strip is required to make the refrigerator cabinet seal complete, and provides complete isolation of the combustion system from the travel trailer interior.

The risk

Without the front trim strip, carbon monoxide or flammable unburned Liquid Petroleum (LP) gases may migrate into the living quarters of the travel trailer, increasing the risk of fire or carbon monoxide poisoning causing occupant injury.

The remedy

All of the trailers affected by this recall have been repaired and owner letters will not be sent. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787. Gulf Stream's number for this recall is 08312020.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V532000.
