The defect

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Freedom Elite, and 2021 Four Winds motorhomes. A 100amp converter breaker was incorrectly installed at the battery tray when a 70amp breaker is required, possibly resulting in the wiring connected to the breaker overheating.

The risk

Overheated wires can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

TMC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the converter breaker with one of the correct amperage if needed, free of charge. This recall began September 18, 2020. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000199.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V423000.
