NHTSA campaign 20V402000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc.: Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 13, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 22. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. (Gulfstream) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Super-Lite 19RD Travel Trailers. When the black water holding tank is full, the clearance between the axle and the black water holding tank may be insufficient.

The risk

Axle contact with the black water holding tank may result in a hole, spilling the tank contents on the road way, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Gulf Stream will notify owners, and dealers will replace the axle with a drop axle to allow more clearance between the top of the axle tube and the black water holding tank. The recall began August 5, 2020. Owners may contact Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V402000.
