Jayco, Inc.: Structure › Frame and Members › Underbody Shields

Jayco, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 2, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 666. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Entegra Qwest and Jayco Melbourne and Melbourne Prestige motorhomes built on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The rear part of the fender liner on the front axle may contact and chafe the brake hose, possibly resulting in a loss of brake fluid.

The risk

Loss of brake fluid can extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Jayco will notify owners, and Mercedes Sprinter dealers will inspect and replace the brake hoses, and the fender liners will be modified, free of charge. The recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V388000.
