NHTSA campaign 20V310000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Arcimoto Inc: Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings

Arcimoto Inc reported this defect to federal regulators on May 27, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 98. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Arcimoto Inc. (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2019-2020 FUV motorcycles. The hydraulic brake hose assemblies do not have a "DOT" marking, and also may fail constriction testing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 106, "Brake Hoses."

The risk

Non-compliant hydraulic brake hoses may lengthen the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Arcimoto will notify owners and will replace the hydraulic brake hose assemblies, free of charge, using factory technicians. The recall began July 16, 2020. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V310000.
