NHTSA campaign 20V302000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Keystone RV Company: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Keystone RV Company reported this defect to federal regulators on May 26, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 192. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Cougar travel trailers, model 24RDS, equipped with a Furrion range cook top. The interior range cooktop is installed in a cabinet that may not be entirely sealed from the furnace cavity. As a result, during furnace operation, the interior range cooktop burner flame may invert.

The risk

If the cooktop burner flames invert, there is an increased risk of a fire and injury.

The remedy

Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the interior range cooktop with the furnace running, installing a plywood panel to seal it as necessary, free of charge. This recall began July 17, 2020. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 20-377.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V302000.
