NHTSA campaign 20V221000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Forest River, Inc.: Tires

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 17, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 83. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016 Rockwood RLT2604WS, WRLT2604WS, Flagstaff FLT26RLWS and WFLT26RLWS recreational trailers. Due to insufficient clearance between the front tire and slide out actuator, the tire may contact the slide out bracket and become damaged.

The risk

If the front tire becomes damaged, it may fail and cause a loss control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a lift kit that will provide the proper clearance between the tire and the slide out bracket. Damaged tires will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began May 11, 2020. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-8943. Forest River's number for this recall is 10D-1159.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V221000.
