NHTSA campaign 20V148000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Thor Motor Coach: Power Train › Automatic Transmission › Lever and Linkage › Column Shift

Thor Motor Coach reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 17, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 227. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Tellaro 20AT and 20LT, and 2020 Sequence 20A, 20K, and 20L motorhomes. The transmission shifter cable may separate and disconnect from the transmission, causing the vehicle to not perform shifts intended by the driver and the gear shift lever position not matching the actual transmission gear.

The risk

The driver may be unaware of the actual gear position and unintended vehicle movement can occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transmission shift cable, free of charge. The recall began May 15, 2020. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000185.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V148000.
