Genuine Scooters, LLC: Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Disc › Pads

Genuine Scooters, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 10, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 148. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Genuine Scooters, LLC. (Genuine Scooters) is recalling certain 2020 Royal Alloy GT150 scooters. The front brake rotor may become uncentered within the front brake caliper allowing the inner brake pad to dislodge from the top of the brake caliper.

The risk

If the brake pad becomes dislodged, the scooter can experience a reduced or complete loss of braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Genuine Scooters will notify owners, and dealers will reposition the brake rotors with spacers to prevent the brake pads from dislodging, free of charge. The recall began January 2019. Note: Genuine Scooters requests owners to not drive their scooters. Please have the scooter towed to a dealer for repairs. Roadside assistance coverage has been provided along with owner's warranty so the tow will be free of charge. Owners may contact Genuine Scooters customer service at 1-773-433-1311.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V010000.
