NHTSA campaign 19V832000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Arcimoto Inc: Equipment › Other › Labels

Arcimoto Inc reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 19, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 22. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Arcimoto Inc (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2019 FUV motorcycles. The ignition switch is missing the word "Ignition" and the "Off" position is not labeled with the word "Off." As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."

The risk

The missing word labels could lead to operator error, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

The remedy

Arcimoto will notify owners, and dealers will replace the key switch trim ring with a laser-etched key switch that contains an "Ignition" and "Off" label, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6923.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V832000.
