Altec Industries Inc.: Equipment
Altec Industries Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 4, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 275. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Altec D2/3/4B, DLB, DMB, DHB, DT65 and DT80 Digger Derrick vehicles. The outrigger valves may be plumbed incorrectly. As a result, the outriggers could continue retracting after an operator has stopped controlling them.
The risk
If the outriggers continue to retract without command, the unit may become unstable and collapse, increasing the risk of injury or death to those nearby.
The remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the outrigger valve plumbing correcting it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 25, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 739.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V710000.
