NHTSA campaign 19V682000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC: Equipment › Other › Labels

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 27, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 241. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2019-2020 F-Type vehicles equipped with 18-inch rear wheels. The tire placard label on the driver's side door opening states an incorrect size for the rear tires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."

The risk

An incorrect tire placard label may mislead the vehicle owner to install the wrong tire size, potentially affecting vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tire placard label with a label that states the correct rear tire size, free of charge. The recall began October 23, 2019. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H256.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V682000.
