NHTSA campaign 19V608000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Halcore Group, Inc.: Air Bags

Halcore Group, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 19, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 80. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Halcore Group, Inc. (Halcore) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Horton Type I and Type III Emergency vehicles. Due to improper manufacturing, the cushion of the Inflatable Head Cushion (IHC) and Knee Air Bag (KAB) may detach during a deployment event and not inflate.

The risk

In the event of a crash, if the cushions do not inflate properly, they may not provide the intended protection to the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Halcore will notify owners and dealers will install replacement air bags when they become available, free of charge. Halcore issued owners an interim notification on September 6, 2019. The recall began September 20, 2019. Owners may contact Halcore customer service at 1-800-447-0343.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V608000.
