NHTSA campaign 19V592000 · Part 573 safety recall report

E-One Incorporated: Air Bags

E-One Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 13, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 10. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2019 Typhoon and Cyclone II fire trucks. Due to improper manufacturing, the cushion of the Inflatable Head Cushion (IHC) and Knee Air Bag (KAB) may detach during a deployment event and not inflate.

The risk

In the event of a crash, if the cushions do not inflate properly, they may not provide the intended protection to the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

E-One will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bags, free of charge. The recall began November 12, 2019. Owners may contact E-One customer service at 1-352-861-3612.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V592000.
