Newmar Corporation: Service Brakes, Air › Disc
Newmar Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on May 20, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 40. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019 Essex, King Aire, London Aire, Mountain Aire, and 2020 Dutch Star motorhomes. The brake relay valve may have an air flow restriction due to a partially blocked orifice, which may lead to extended stopping distance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The risk
An increase in stopping distance without warning increases the risk of crash.
The remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and Spartan dealers will inspect and replace the brake relay valve, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 20, 2019. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300 or Spartan customer service at 1-800-543-5008. Newmar's number for this recall is 19012.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V381000.
