NHTSA campaign 19V361000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Trail King Industries, Inc.: Service Brakes

Trail King Industries, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 13, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 43. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Trail King Industries, Inc. (Trail King) is recalling certain 2016-2019 custom TKT50 trailers. The air control line to the front Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) electronic control unit for the trailer brakes may be missing.

The risk

If all of the air control lines are not installed, the service brakes may not apply on one or two of the three of axles, thus increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Trail King will notify owners and will add a front control line, free of charge. The recall began June 24, 2019. Owners may contact Trail King customer service at 1-800-843-3324. Trail King's number for this recall is TK201902.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V361000.
