Forest River, Inc.: Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 12, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 14. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Dynamax Isata motorhomes built on a RAM cab chassis. The primary and secondary brake hoses located between the brake master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit may have been manufactured without anti-corrosion plating on the ferrules.

The risk

If the ferrules corrode, the brake fluid may leak and cause a loss of braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and FCA US dealers will inspect the brake hoses and replace them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Forest River at 1-574-262-3474. Forest River's number for this recall is 55-0992.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V294000.
