Daimler Trucks North America LLC: Service Brakes, Air › Antilock › Control Unit/Module
Daimler Trucks North America LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 27, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 259. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses. The affected school buses may have been built without Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) modules. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The risk
The operator may not be aware of the absence of ABS function. Unknowingly operating the vehicle without ABS function may increase risk of a crash.
The remedy
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the buses and install any missing ABS modules, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2019. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. The DTNA number for this recall is FL-809.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V138000.
