McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc.: Equipment
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 16, 2018 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,669. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2008-2018 Bridgemaster V concrete mixers equipped with an optional composite material hydraulic tank. The filler neck check valve may seal the tank too tightly, causing the tank to overpressurize and possibly rupture.
The risk
If the tank ruptures it may cause hydraulic fluid to spill. The ruptured tank can cause injuries from plastic debris. The spilled hydraulic fluid could be hot which could cause burn injuries. If the vehicle is on the road when the tank ruptures, the tank pieces or spilled hydraulic fluid may cause a road hazard which could increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
McNeilus has notified owners, and dealers will replace the filler neck, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2018. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278. McNeilus' number for the recall is VSR-TSB-018.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 18V322000.
