Keystone RV Company: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Keystone RV Company reported this defect to federal regulators on May 16, 2018 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 94. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2019 Keystone Cougar fifth-wheel trailers, models 28SGS and 27RLS. The propane compartment may not have been sealed properly during manufacturing, which if there were a propane leak, could allow the propane gas to seep into the living quarters.

The risk

A propane leak into the living area can increase the risk of injury or fire.

The remedy

Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will seal the inside of the LP compartment along the floor line and side wall, free of charge. The recall began on June 14, 2018. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 18-321.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 18V320000.
