Chrysler (FCA US LLC): Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) reported this defect to federal regulators on May 1, 2018 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2,457. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 RAM 4500 and 5500 cab chassis trucks. The primary and secondary brake hoses located between the brake master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit may have been manufactured without anti-corrosion plating on the ferrules, which can allow the ferrules to corrode.
The risk
If the ferrules corrode, the brake fluid may leak and cause a loss of braking, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake hoses and replace them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 19, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U41.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 18V277000.
