Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 14, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 58. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Prime Time Fury recreational trailers. The information on the Federal Placard may be incorrect, stating that the vehicle is equipped with ST235/80R16E tires and 16X6.0JJ rims, however, the vehicle is actually equipped with ST225/75R15E tires and 15X6.0JJ rims. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims," and 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The risk

The placards do not indicate the correct tire/rim combination which could lead to the installation of incorrect replacement tires, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install new corrected Federal Placards, free of charge. The recall began on December 8, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for this recall is 48-0575.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V711000.
