Highland Ridge RV: Structure › Frame and Members
Highland Ridge RV reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 3, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 118. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Highland Ridge RV (Highland Ridge) is recalling certain 2018 Light recreational trailers, models 312BHTS and 275RLS. The safety chains on these vehicles may be rated for a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 7,600 lbs, however the trailer has a GVWR of 11,700 lbs.
The risk
The lower rated safety chains may fail if the trailer detaches from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Highland Ridge will notify owners, and dealers will replace the 7,600 lb chains with 11,700 lb chains, free of charge. The recall began on December 4, 2017. Owners may contact Highland Ridge customer service at 1-260-768-7771. Highland Ridge's number for this recall is 9904364.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V697000.
