NHTSA campaign 17V645000 · Part 573 safety recall report

KZRV, L.p.: Tires

KZRV, L.p. reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 12, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 19. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain 2017-2018 KZRV Sportsmen Sportster trailers. There is insufficient clearance between the slide out support arm and the vehicle tires. While the trailer is being towed, the axle travel can allow the tire to contact the support arm.

The risk

Tire contact with the slide support arm adjustment bolt may damage the tire, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

KZRV will notify owners and dealers will modify the slide room support arm to provide the proper clearance, free of charge. The recall began on November 17, 2017. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016 extensions 154 or 153. KZRV's number for this recall is KZ-2017-07.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V645000.
