Ride The Ducks International LLC: Power Train › Axle Assembly
Ride The Ducks International LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 11, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 57. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Ride the Ducks International LLC (RTDI) is recalling certain 1996-2005 "Stretch" Amphibious Passenger Vehicles. Due to excessive fatigue, the front axle housing on the affected vehicles may fracture at the connection point between the knuckle ball and the housing, possibly resulting in a loss of vehicle control.
The risk
A loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
RTDI will notify the company-owned operators and licensors will replace the front axles with one with a coupler welded to the axle, free of charge. The recall began on September 21, 2017. RTDI customer service can be contacted at 1-417-266-7600. Note: This recall supersedes recall 16V-859.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V501000.
