BMW of North America, LLC: Wheels › Rim
BMW of North America, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 21, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 37. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2017 BMW C650 GT and BMW C Evolution scooters for failing to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Wheels and rims-other than passenger cars." The front rims may not be marked with the required rim type and the DOT designation.
The risk
Since the rim is not marked with the rim size and the DOT designation, a tire of the incorrect size may be installed on this rim, affecting the handling of the scoter and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace any rims that are not correctly marked, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 26, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V467000.
