Winnebago Industries, Inc: Equipment › Other › Labels
Winnebago Industries, Inc reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 18, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 6. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Winnebago Industries, Inc (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2015 BUS28WC and BUS28SH transit buses. Based on the seating capacity of the vehicle as equipped, if fully loaded, the vehicles may exceed the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and/or the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) limitations indicated on the certification label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
Overloading of the transit bus may result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will reduce the seating capacity of the bus, free of charge. The recall began on September 13, 2017. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V456000.
