Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 14, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 12. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 Rockwood travel trailers, models RLF8301WS and RLF8301WS-W. The affected vehicles have a Federal Placard with an incorrect ninth place check digit printed on the VIN label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
The incorrect Check Digit will hinder the registration of the vehicle, which can lead to improper licensing and the failure to properly account for the vehicle in the event of a safety recall.
The remedy
Forest River will notify owners, and will provide a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on July 21, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-5164. Forest River's number for this recall is 10C-07142017-0480.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V445000.
