McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc.: Back Over Prevention › Back-up Alarm
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 2, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 9. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Bridgemaster V concrete mixers, equipped with both FLEX Controls and an optional broadband backup alarm. The backup camera display may shut off and the alarm may stop sounding if the truck is in reverse for an extended period of time.
The risk
If the backup alarm stops emitting the alarm sound when the truck is still reversing, others may not be alerted that the truck is backing up, increasing the risk of personal injury.
The remedy
McNeilus has notified owners, and dealers will add a relay into the electrical circuit for the backup alarm system, free of charge. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-507-374-6321.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V361000.
