NHTSA campaign 17V350000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Jayco, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Jayco, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 30, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 88. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2018 Eagle TT 330RSTS (EA) recreational trailers. The Federal Placard on these vehicles incorrectly lists the Gross Axle Weight Rating capacity (GAWR) as 5,800lbs, when the axles actually have a capacity of 5,660lbs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

The risk

The incorrect GAWR may result in the vehicle being overloaded, causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will provide a new Federal ID labels with the correct GAWR, free of charge. The recall began on June 1, 2017. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V350000.
